Why use a database?

Databases are PRINT resources. Yes, they count as books or magazines.

They are available anytime, even at home (If you have the passwords. They are in your agenda before the calendar.)

There are not books to carry back and forth and best of all its never overdue!

This database contains up-to-date information on government news and policy decisions. Read articles, view political cartoons and learn about the American economic system.

This database offers reports on 190 cultures of the world. Learn important information about daily life, history, customs and lifestyles of different countries.

EBSCO databases: MasterFILE Premier, History Reference Center, Science Reference Center, Auto Repair Reference Center, Student Research Center, Professional Library Databases.
4   Link   Gale Databases
Student Resource Center, Opposing Viewpoints, Science Resource Center and the Health Module offer detailed information for all school assignments
5   Link   Howard County Public Library
Use your Howard County Library card and pin number (request a pin number from the library) to access many online reference sources. To locate the online resources, click on “Databases."

Journal of the American Medical Association.
This resource can only be accessed for free in the school building.

A professional collection of journals, primary sources and books. This is ONLY available while you are in school.
8   Link   NBC Learn
A video database from NBC Learn that is sorted by subject and is searchable. You must click from this website to access the site in school.
9   Link   Noodletools
Use NoodleTools to create MLA works cited pages for reports. NoodleTools takes care of punctuation, alphabetization and formatting of your source information.

Turnitin is a database that allows students to check their papers for plagiarism. Your report will be checked against the Turnitin database for originality.

This resource offers all the information in the print version plus links to maps, web sites and other articles.
